The Popsicle – a fruity treat fresh from the freezer
Popsicles are super easy to make at home and you can be really creative with them too. These versatile ice lollies can be pimped with a variety of flavours and toppings, and can even be served as poptails!
The beloved popsicle is known all around the world as an ice pop on a stick, but it’s so much more than that! The popsicle reminds us all of summer fun with loved ones. Admittedly, you can’t whip these up in 5 minutes right before a party as it does take some time for the ice pops to freeze and be ready to eat. But, the preparation is really, really easy. And, as you will find out, once you’ve tried them you won’t want to stop! The possibilities are truly endless and all you need is a popsicle ice tray, lolly sticks and a spare shelf in your freezer.
How to create popsicles
First, use your favourite fruit juice or refreshing iced tea drink as a base. We love using our new purple tea cranberry, because it is ice-cool and has a slightly sweet fruity-fresh flavor, what’s more, the deep red color looks sooo cool! To make your popsicles even more delicious, we recommend adding extra little refreshments like fresh mint or lemon balm leaves into the mix or even thinly sliced lime. After you have filled your popsicle tray, carefully carry it to your freezer. Then set the timer to 45 minutes, this is the perfect amount of time for the popsicles to set just enough for you to put the sticks in. After putting the sticks in, you can take care of other things for about six hours, and then – tadaa – take out your finished ice lollies and share them around!
Here are two tips for your next summer party:
To serve your popsicles in style, prepare some ice cubes at the same time, then when it’s time to serve, place your popsicles on a bed of crushed ice and decorate with fresh mint leaves, flowers and lime slices. No one will be able to resist! And of course, another popsicle variation you should try is the poptail – yes, exactly: a cocktail on the stick. For this, mix your chosen fruit juice or ice tea with sparkling wine or fill the tray with your favorite summer cocktail instead and add some fruits and leaves for decoration. Blueberries, halved physalis, mango cubes - there are no limits to your imagination.
We don’t know about you, but we’re really feeling like some nice creative refreshment now! It’s time to clear your freezer and start making your own popsicle varieties. Your next party is coming up!
