My summer bucket list – five fun ideas
Our summer bucket list ideas are set to make summer just that little more fun. Go somewhere different, try something new or test your limits this season.
The term “bucket list” originally comes from the US and was inspired by the phrase “to kick the bucket”. It’s a list of things you want to do or achieve before you die.
However, we’re taking a less serious approach and compiling our own list of goals for the summer of 2017. Whether it’s a test of bravery or something you’ve wanted to do your whole life, summer is the best time to make those dreams a reality. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Watch the sunrise
Summer nights are too short to waste sleeping! Enjoy a good meal, take a midnight stroll around your city or dance the night away. And just before dawn breaks, find a quiet spot to sit and watch the sun go up. It could be with friends or a loved one but even with total strangers, a sunrise is a beautiful experience worthy of any bucket list.
Make new friends
Strangers are friends you haven’t met yet, or so the saying goes. And whether at a gig, a festival or outdoor sports, summer is the best season to make friends. Why not strike up a conversation at your local Vapiano? New acquaintances belong on every bucket list.
Fall from the sky
A parachute jump often features on bucket lists. Those brave enough to fling themselves out of a plane are rewarded with a massive adrenaline kick and the flight of their lives! Once your feet are back on solid ground you won’t be able to stop grinning. Promise. Why not try it with your bestie and make new memories together?
Enough of paddling in shallow water so your hair stays dry. Feel the need for speed and leap over the waves on water skis. As well as an unforgettable experience, you’re keeping fit and teaching your body new things. You’ll feel super proud when you’ve mastered it.
“Art? I’m hopeless!” Ever muttered something similar? Well, the good news is that since the invention of photography, paintings no longer need to portray real life. It’s all about your imagination so play with different themes and colours. Grab a canvas and head to the park, lake or beach. Whatever you create will be utterly unique.
Swoon under the stars
Everyone loves a trip to the pictures but nobody wants to be cooped up in a stuffy movie theatre in summer. Find out where your nearest open air cinema is and watch a film beneath the stars. Or host your own open air evening by projecting your favourite movie onto a wall or a white bed sheet. Don’t forget the homemade cocktails!
On a hot summer’s day, the beach is the ultimate place to be. Sun worshippers meticulously arrange their towels, while children splash around in the waves and ice cream sellers stroll up and down touting their wares. But what happens when dark falls? Rediscover a very different beach experience by night. Everything changes. The sounds. The smells. The shooting stars. There’s no need to jet off to far-flung countries to see the Milky Way either. Head to the Baltic coast or Lake Constance with a blanket instead.
